2019 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Complete Food and Beverage Menu

We are so excited to look at the menu options for all the booths at the 2019 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.  On Wednesday, March 6th, Epcot will begin their 26th Annual Flower & Garden Festival.  This year’s festival will run for just under three months until it ends on Monday, June 3rd.  While there will be so many new things including new topiaries, a very expanded Garden Rocks Concert Series, and additional special events, this post will be dedicated solely to the wide variety of food booths with full food and beverage menus for you to check out before you go.  Like all the other festivals, there will be booths located throughout the park, many of which will offer new food and beverage options that we have not seen in the past.  While we do not have the pricing yet, you can assume that most of the food items will be in the $3.00 to $10.00 range, and many of these items will accept 2019 Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits.  Let’s dive in!

What To Expect at the Opening of Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

For the longest time, it feels like Disney has been building one of their largest expansions to the Disney parks ever – Stars Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This expansion is happening simultaneously at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. We will focus on Walt Disney World in Florida.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

So, when does it open? We’ve heard the slated date of opening is “Fall 2019,” which could be anywhere between September 2019-December 2019. One thing is for sure- it will be busy! There are so many Disney Parks’ fans that will want to enjoy the land, but also just Star Wars fans in general will more than likely be booking trips to Walt Disney World for this specific attraction.

What will Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge be like?

Stars Wars land is promised to be one of the most immersive lands that Disney has ever built. For comparisons, if you’ve been to Pandora inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, you’ve experienced feeling like you are in another land that is nothing like in your current world. For Star Wars Land, it is promised to be even bigger and more immersive than Pandora. As far as putting into words, I’ll have to venture out to Disney in the future to adequately do this for you.

The expansion is on the planet called Batuu, which is located at the Galaxy’s Edge (hence the name of the land) and the village that you will embark upon (with the restaurants, rides, and shopping) is called Black Spire Outpost. In this bustling village, you are expected to see cast members walking around in full Star Wars garb, which based on pictures of these costumes, it will truly feel like you are on the set of the movie Star Wars. Much different than the costumes that regular cast members wear around the parks like in Toy Story Land, or even in Pandora. Based on the images I’ve seen already, you will truly feel like you’ve landed on another planet. (I cannot wait)

What is there to do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?

For starters, this land will be so large, it will take you awhile to just take in all the sights around you. You can get lost in just people watching and exploring this new planet. In addition to looking at the architecture of the buildings and the trees and rocks that form the natural looking landscape, you will be able to experience two major ride attractions, restaurants, and shopping.

The Rides at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The two major ride attractions added to Galaxy’s Edge are Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to be an attraction that sort of acts like 4 attractions in one-concluding with a trackless dark ride at the very end. It is based on an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order. The attraction is also boasted to be Disney’s longest attraction created as well. I thought Splash Mountain or Carousel of Progress was long (just under 11 minutes for Splash and like 21 minutes for Carousel of Progress) – what is this ride going to be like? Holy Cow I’m excited!

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will be an attraction where you will sit in individual seats and each has a role in piloting the Millennium Falcon aircraft and each ride experience is said to be different because it is based on how well you piloted the aircraft.  Imagine an amped-up version of Star Tours with an interactive screen and simulations. There is supposed to be technology (rumored) that will link to your Magic Band that tracks if you accomplished or failed the mission – so that cast members inside Black Spire Outpost will be able to engage with you and ask you about it. What? That seems like so much fun!

What about food at Galaxy’s Edge?

There will be several different options (fast-casual, quick service) to choose from, but it is promised to have unique and tantalizing flavors that are out of this world- well, because they are- you are on another planet.

There will be the main quick service location, called Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. You will also be able to buy food and drinks from multiple window service locations and kiosks/carts.

Galaxy’s Edge Merchandise?

Yep, there will be a lot of merchandise located in Black Spire Outpost- anything from plush toys, to unique trinkets that make you feel like you landed on another planet and found something so unique, it could not be replicated anywhere else. That is what Disney does- it makes you feel like you have left your current world and embarked upon another. They are in the business of making Magic.

There will be one unique destination where you can get a hand built, customized lightsaber and the masters of this shop will teach you the ways of the Jedi. Where else can you get this type of experience? Answer: Only at Disney!

In summary

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to live up to the hype- it will be like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. We cannot wait to book our next trip to Disney, so that we can fully experience the newest attraction that is set to be – OUT OF THIS WORLD.

What do you think? Are you excited? Do you plan on booking a trip to Disney World when Galaxy’s Edge is open? Let us know in the comments below!

You Have Decided on a Walt Disney World Vacation – Now What?

Congrats! You have made the best and most fun decision to travel to Walt Disney World for your next vacation.  You want to book a Walt Disney World Vacation, but where do you start?

Steps to Create Your Walt Disney World Vacation Package

Start by going to www.disneyworld.disney.go.com to begin your Vacation Search

Pick Your Hotel

Pick Your Walt Disney World Resort
Pick Your Walt Disney World Resort

Here you will begin searching for hotels to stay, by searching your dates of travel and the total number of people in your property. The reason this is important, is the website will help recommend available hotel rooms that can accommodate the number of people in your party. For example, those resorts that have larger accommodations like murphy beds that pull of the wall, or sleeper sofas that turn into full sized beds. There will also be recommendations for family suites at certain resorts.

Your budget will help you navigate through which resort to pick, as there are value resorts as low as $99.00 per night to the super expensive deluxe resorts & villas that go as high as $500 per night, or higher in peak season.

You will also be asked to select which type of room. For example, if selecting a resort stay for the week of August 15th at Pop Century, you will be asked to select from a standard room versus a preferred room, etc. These preferred rooms might have easier access to the main dining hall or parki

Select a Walt Disney World Vacation Package

Select a Walt Disney World Vacation Package

Once your hotel is selected, the next screen will have radio dials for you to select. One will just say hotel, and the other says package. There might be a few others pop up if there is a specialized deal going on, such as “free dining” or “fun in the sun package.” These packages might offer unique traits for a specific time frame only. Unless you are doing a specialized package, be sure to select package.

Add your Park Tickets

Add Your Park Tickets
Add Your Park Tickets

So now you’ve got a place to sleep and take a shower, now you’ve got to get your park tickets.  There will be multiple options that show up on the screen. If you selected you are staying 7 nights, and 8 days in the month of November, the website will automatically have the selection for the number of days you are staying. So, in this example, the radio dial will be defaulted to an 8-day ticket, but don’t worry – you can change it if you want to. For deciding the number of days, it is important to know if you plan on going to the parks on the day of arrival and the day of departure. This will come in handy when you know your flight times. Don’t worry – you can change the number of park tickets at any time during this process.

Ticket Options

Select Your Ticket Options
Select Your Ticket Options

The ticket option that is defaulted is a single day ticket to one park per day. What if you want to skip around to parks, can you do this? Of course- for a fee.

You can select to upgrade your ticket to what is called “Park Hopper” which allows you to navigate through any of the 4 major theme parks at any time during the day. For example, you can start off the morning at Magic Kingdom with breakfast reservations at 9:00am, and then head over to Epcot at 11:30 am for a fast pass for Soarin’. You can then finish off the afternoon at Hollywood studios for Jedi Training and then catch dinner at Tusker House at Animal Kingdom. The website will quote you the upgrade charge total and in smaller font show you the price per person.

You can also upgrade to “Park Hopper Plus” which gives you any of the advantages described above plus access to the two water parks on property as well – Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Add a Dining Plan

Select a Disney Dining Plan
Select a Disney Dining Plan

After you’ve selected hotel and park tickets, the next page will be summary page where you can start adding “additional features.” The first option is picking your Dining Package. There are three different dining packages that give you a certain number of credits per package.  Click here to learn all about the Disney Dining Plans for 2019.

The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan

The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan offers families 2 quick service meals per day, 2 snack credits, and 1 refillable drink mug, per person. At the quick service restaurants, regular drinks like soft drinks or tea are included, and you also get an adult beverage as well. A quick service restaurant is any establishment where you order at a counter, and do not have a server waiting on you. An example of a quick service restaurant is Flame Tree Bar-b-que at Animal Kingdom.

The Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plan offers families 1 quick service credit, 1 table service credit, and 2 snack credits per person per day. You also get the regular beverage and one alcoholic beverage per meal and the refillable mug.  A table service restaurant would be Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom.

The Deluxe Dining Plan

The Deluxe Dining Plan is the cream of the crop dining plan and it is a lot of food! We’ve done this one before and felt like all we did was eat- but hey if you are in to that, then go for it! You only live once, right?  This plan offers families 2 table service credits, 2 snacks, the same beverage options and refillable mug. Restaurants on this plan would be any dining establishment where you are seated, and a server comes to your table and waits on you. Some high-end character restaurants or signature dining

experiences require that you use two credits per meal per person. (Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of these).

Pick the Plan that is Best for You and Your Family

Selecting the right Dining Plan for you is dependent on your family. Remember that not everyone is the same. If your family rarely snacks throughout the day and aren’t big eaters for breakfast or lunch- maybe you pay out of pocket for your food. If you want a relaxing time, in air-conditioning, with someone waiting on you while you chat with your family about how much fun you are having, maybe the dining plan or Deluxe Dining Plan is right for you.  My favorite dining plan is the Disney Dining Plan where you get 1 quick service and 1 table service. We love to get out of the Florida eat and take a break in the afternoon, and then enjoy something quick and convenient in the evening time, when some people are heading out of the park.

There are multiple charts and calculations out there that will help you calculate money you would spend on the Dining Plan versus not purchasing one and paying out of pocket.

We love the Dining plans because they have already been paid for and we do not even have to think about how much it will cost or worry about the budget- because it has already been set from the booking of our trip.

Adding Memory Maker

Adding Additional Walt Disney World Vacation Options
Adding Additional Walt Disney World Vacation Options

Memory maker is a fantastic package you can add to your Vacation Package.  This is a unique experience where you get professional photos taken all around the parks by the many Disney photographers. The ones that you see holding the cameras all around the parks- yeah, those people! What is neat about this, is that the entire family can get into the picture instead of mom or dad holding the camera. The photographers also sprinkle a little more pixie dust your way and add fun graphics and character images into your photos as well. For example, they may have you hold out your hands (like you are holding something scooped in your hands) and by the time you view your pictures on your Disney account, maybe you are holding the poisonous apple given to you by the evil queen! How fun!  You also get fun little videos added of you and your family when you go on a ride. Your magic band that you select, once you put your deposit down, is the key to everything. Once you scan your band in the line queue, Disney knows that you are on 7 Dwarfs Mine Train and will capture a video of you on the ride attraction.

Add Flights and Ground Transportation

Now it is time to add your flight – if you choose to travel this way. Some people book their flight on the website, but sometimes if you are booking too far in advance, the flight times have not been made available yet. You are more than welcome to book your flight on a separate website, knowing that you can provide Disney the flight information if you need to take Disney Transportation from the airport to your hotel. For example, we always book way in advance, so we book our flight on Americanairlines.com. Once we book the flight, we update our information on our Disney Account that we are arriving at 11:00am on Tuesday August 16th, which tells Disney that I’m going to need their Magical Express transportation from the airport to Pop Century.

Travel Insurance, Summary, and Pay

Finish up and Pay
Finish up and Pay!

Now that you’ve done all of the fun stuff, now you come to the not so fun stuff – paying for it! Ha Ha!

Here is where you can add travel insurance & get the summary for your entire trip. You can also edit anything from this page. (Hint- you can edit after you’ve made purchases as well).

Great news if you do not have the funds to pay for the entire trip – you can put down a $200.00 deposit on a credit card and cancel up to 30 days from your travel dates and get a 100% refund. Hopefully you don’t have to cancel, and you can move forward with your vacation plans, but know that is an option for you if something comes up, or if you just need the time to save up and pay for it in stages.

Eating Keto at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you have ever visited any of the parks at Walt Disney World, you already know that the words “Disney World” and (insert ANY diet name here) do not go well together.  While this is the case, if you are living a Keto lifestyle, you can still enjoy your trip while eating Keto at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  The longer that I have gone in my Keto journey, the easier it has become to completely overcome any cravings for carbs and sugar.  That said, Disney World is a little harder to tackle.  But, if you can stay strong and avoid the temptations, it can be done!

Focus on Staying in Ketosis – Not on the Caloric Intake

When I am at home, I am very strict with my caloric intake as well as my macros.  At Disney World, I focus more on staying in keto without really focusing on the calories.  I mean, I am on vacation, and I am walking like 10 miles a day while in the parks.  One thing to remember is that if you are in a table-service restaurant, let the host know that you have certain dietary restrictions and they will send out a chef to discuss your options.  You can almost always make the changes necessary to stay in ketosis.  With the quick-service restaurants and snacks, it can be a little harder, but still very possible. In this post, I will be covering my day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  On this visit, we had a mix of table-service and quick service, so let’s dive in!

Eating a Keto Breakfast at Tusker House for Donald Duck’s Safari Breakfast

To start out our day, we started out over at Starbucks (Creature Comforts) to grab a Venti Iced Coffee with heavy cream and a couple of sweet-n-lows (a common theme in all the parks, and a great way to start the day)!  After getting my caffeine, we went over to Tusker House for Donald Duck’s Safari Breakfast.  Not only did the kids love this place for the character interaction, but I really enjoyed my keto breakfast buffet as well.  As usual, I had scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage.  I simply stuck with the eggs and meat this morning, and for some reason I couldn’t eat as much as I usually do.

Finally got a Jumbo Turkey Leg for my Keto Lunch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Keto Jumbo Turkey Leg

Since we did not have a reservation for lunch, it was up to me to do a little research and see what options would provide the best keto experience.  I had a little bit of a harder time trying to decide today as I was able to narrow it down to a Jumbo Turkey Leg from Yak & Yeti Quality Beverages or the ½ Chicken from Flame Tree Barbeque.  Since I had already had a ½ chicken a couple of days ago, I decided to go with the Jumbo Turkey Leg from Yak & Yeti Quality Beverages.  Since there is not a lot to choose from, the wife and kids headed over to Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes and enjoyed some their amazing quick-service options.  For $15.99, I purchased a Jumbo Turkey Leg with chips (my kids shared my chips).  While the Jumbo Turkey Leg does have a bad rap, I think that they are a great keto option!  Don’t judge, I walked over 12 miles this day!

Back to Yak & Yeti for a Nice Keto Dinner

Yak & Yeti – Credit Landry’s

While we did eat at Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café for lunch, we decided to grab reservations for Yak & Yeti table-service for dinner.  Not too sure why, but Yak & Yeti has always been one of my favorite restaurants.  Also, we are members of Landry’s Select Club, so we earn points for eating here which can be redeemed for free food at this as location as well as any other Landry’s restaurant around the country.  After loading up on turkey for lunch, I really wasn’t that hungry, so I opted for a salad.  I have never tried a salad here before, so I decided to try the Kale Caesar Salad with Cilantro-Lime Seared Shrimp.  The only change that I had to make was having them remove the garlic-ginger wonton strips.   While garlic-ginger wonton strips do sound rather awesome, the salad was still great without them!

Keto Snacks at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Keto Babybel Cheese Snack

As I have done in every other park so far, I was quite thrilled to find my lovely Babybel cheese snacks.  Over in the Africa area, I found Harambe Fruit Market was selling a 6-Pack of Babybel cheese snacks for only $5.99!  I also picked up a pickle for $1.99 as well as I really enjoyed the crispy cold pickle the other day.  With the temps in the mid-90s, it was pretty nice to have a cold snack.

Other Keto Options at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While doing research and walking around through the park, I did come across a few other menus that looked promising for anyone doing the keto diet at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Being that we did not want to spend too much for dinner, we did not visit Tiffin’s, but looking at their menu, it looks like they have some great options.  For appetizers, they offered an artisanal cheese platter as well as a charcuterie.  As for main entrees, they also offered a Surf & Turk, Buttered Chicken, and Pan-Seared Alaskan Halibut among others.  If I had to do this over again, I might have given Tiffin’s a try, but we will be back, and I will definitely be checking it out in the future.

Eating Keto at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

So, what do you think?  If you are living a Keto Lifestyle, how do you think you would manage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?  I promise you that if I can do it, anyone can!  Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below!  This post is part of a four-part series where I shared what I ate in each park.  Here are the links to the posts detailing what I ate in each of the other parks:

The Five Best Snacks to use My Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits on at Disney World

If you are at all like me, you know that one of the most important things to plan out for your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation is the FOOD!  While I love the attractions, the shows, and all the other magical entertainment that Disney World has to offer, I look forward to the food the most (and more specifically the SNACKS!  I know that I am not alone as Disney Snacks have become just as iconic as Cinderella Castle over the last couple of years with the introduction of shirts, hats, keychains, and even jewelry featuring many of the iconic snack options that Disney World has to offer.

When we go to Disney World, we always choose one of the dining plans.  Over the years, we have learned what to get and where to eat if we want to maximize the Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits.  One of the most important aspects to maximizing the potential of the Disney Dining Plan is making sure that we are getting the best snacks to get the most out of the Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits.

How to determine the best bang for your buck

In looking at the best options, I always like to make sure that we are only using Snack Credits on items that are over $6.00.  We will buy so much food in the parks that if I want something that is snack credit eligible but comes in at a price less than $6.00, I will usually use cash.  The only exception to this rule is if I get to the last day of our adventure and realize that we still have a couple of snack credits left on out accounts.  In the rare case that this happens, our friends and family will be getting Mickey shaped rice crispy treats for souvenirs!

#1 The Colossal Cinnamon Roll – $7.49

Colossal Cinnamon Roll – Animal Kingdom

Now, there are some good baked good in each of the parks, but nothing can compare to the Colossal Cinnamon Roll that is currently being offered at both Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery and at Creature Comforts.  At the time of writing this, you can only pick these up in these two locations, but of which are located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  I am sure that you have seen the pictures on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, but the pictures do not do this thing justice!  When you get this colossal Mickey shaped cinnamon roll, you will see what I mean.  We have a family of 4, and when we visited the Animal Kingdom, we got two and that was enough of a breakfast for all of us to share.  Pair it up with a nice Venti Iced coffee from Creature Comforts (aka Starbucks at Disney’s Animal Kingdom), and you will be good to go!

#2 The Mickey Pretzel with Cheese Dip – about $7.00 depending on location

For the longest time, these amazing salty treats were only available on the west coast at Disneyland, but a few years ago, Disney finally wised up and brought them over to the east coast!  The classic Mickey Pretzel with Cheese dipping sauce can be found at various bakeries, counter-service restaurants, and food carts throughout each of the four parks.  I believe that you can even find one in Disney Springs, but I am not able to verify that at this time.

#3 Funnel Cakes – Especially at Oasis Canteen in Hollywood Studios – $8.49

Now, anytime you see a funnel cake at Walt Disney World, there is a good chance that is will fall into our parameters of being a great Dining Plan snack credit.  Most of them come in between $6.00 and $7.00, but if you make your way over to the Oasis Canteen at Hollywood Studios (just outside of the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular), you will find the best option.  When you visit Oasis Canteen, you will see that they offer two different funnel cake options – The Funnel Cake with Strawberry Topping and Soft-serve Vanilla Ice Cream and the Funnel Cake with Cookies ‘n Cream and Soft-serve Vanilla Ice Cream.  Each of these funnel cakes come in at $8.49 which makes them one of the best options you will find on a regular menu in Walt Disney World.  Not only that, but they are amazing, and will make a great shareable for your whole family on just one snack credit!

#4 The Pineapple Upside Down Cake at Aloha Isle – $6.99

This next item is fairly new to the Magic Kingdom and can be found at Aloha Isle in Adventureland.  You are probably already familiar with this location as for the longest time, it was the only place you could score the legendary Dole Whip.  Well, Disney World has upped their game with this offering as you will get a nice sized slice of pineapple upside down cake that can be served with Pineapple DOLE Whip®, Vanilla DOLE Whip® or a swirl of the two.  I can assure you that this is one thing that you will want to use the My Disney Experience App to Mobile Order as the lines can get pretty long at Aloha Isle!

#5 Almost Anything at Epcot During the Festivals – $6.00 up to $9.00+

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

Throughout the year, Epcot features a few different festivals that you might be aware of.  While the actual dates do change slightly from year to year, the Festival of the Arts goes from January through February, Flower and Garden Festival runs from March through June, the International Food and Wine Festival runs from August through November, and the Festival of the Holidays runs from November through December.  If you have visited any of these festivals, you know that they set up booths and kiosks throughout Epcot that feature different foods depending on which festival is currently happening.  If you will be there during a festival, I recommend that you save your meal credits and spend all of your snack credits here as most of the great food options range from $6.00 all the way up to almost $10.00 per item.  We were there for the International Food and Wine Festival, and we took major advantage of these items, many of which were amazing!

Other Noteworthy Treats

While these listed here are our absolute favorites, please know that there are so many other items that you can use your snack credits on that we did not mention in the rankings.  Throughout the parks, you can find great snacks like the Pulled Pork Cheese Fries at Flame Tree Bar-B-Q, the Garlic Knots at Pizzafari, the Fruit Smoothies at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, the Mickey Waffle at Sleepy Hollow, as well as multiple great options throughout many of the on-property resorts.

In conclusion

So, what do you think about our top five tasty treats?  Are there items that we left off that you believe deserve to be in the top five?  Have you tried all of these items?  Let us know in the comments below!  Also, don’t forget to subscribe to our page and share this list with all of you Disney Fanatic Friends!
